Oba of Benin leads Edo people in prayer, fasting

Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin together with all sons and daughters in Benin, including indigenes and non-indigenes living in Edo State and diaspora, will embark on two weeks fasting and prayer, commencing September 26th and ending October 9th 2024 between 6a.m and 6p.m, daily.

Chief Stanley Obamwonyi, the Esere of Benin, in a statement issued on the authority of the Oba of Benin, said the spiritual exercise, enjoins Oba Ewuare’s prayer partners to pray for bountiful year 2024 harvest, ahead of the yearly new yam (Emorhϙ) age-long tradition, which began Centuries ago.

Emorhϙ marks the commencement of the consumption of the yearly new yam (Emorhϙ) in Oba palace in accordance with yearly Benin tradition.

The first Class traditional ruler, enjoins Edo people to pray God almighty and ancestors to protect everyone and avert death from individual homes, families, Edo State and Country at large and bring peace.

The statement also urge Edo people to appreciate God almighty for the peaceful conduct of the September 2024 Edo State gubernatorial election, for warding-off evil from the State.
