EFCC warns citizens to avoid 58 ponzi schemes

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has warned Nigeria citizens to avoid 58 illegal ponzi schemes across the nation.

The Commission stated that operators of these ponzi companies are posturing as investing entities and defrauding innocent Nigerians of their well-earned money.

EFCC also said on its website on Tuesday that the illegal companies are neither registered with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, nor the Security Exchange Commission.

The anti-graft agency revealed that the CBN and SEC denied that they are registered with them in separate correspondences with the Commission.

EFCC assured that
it’s sanitising the financial space of the nation and offer the investing public adequate and reliable information on the activities of illegal ponzi scheme operators.

It however assured the public of its vigilance and proactive monitoring of every entity and player in the nation’s economic space to safeguard the public from opportunistic and predatory operators and use the instrumentality of its anti-corruption mandate to stimulate growth in the economy.
