Nigerians mourn 5 officers deaths after Edo election duty

Nigerians are mourning five police officers who died in a road accident on Kano-Zaria express way while returning from last Saturday’s Edo State governorship election duty to their homes Kano State.

Eight other police personnel were injured in the crash, according to Kano Police Commissioner, Salmam Garba, who said the fatalities occurred at Karfi after when their vehicle had a head-on collision with a truck.

The Police boss who described the deaths as shocking, prayed God to give the Command and deceased families who have been contacted by the police to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

“They were returning from Edo state where they were drafted to maintain law and order during the election.

“About eight of them, including the driver of the trailer are in the hospital.

“Their vehicle had a collision with a reversing trailer”, he said, “Sadly, they lost their lives at Karfi, when their vehicle had a head-on collision with a reversing trailer”, according to CP Garba.
