‘Why PRP govt won’t build economy around taxes’

Patience Ndidi-Key, Candidate of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Saturday September 21st Edo governorship election has vowed to reverse the trend of building the economy around taxing troubled small scale businesses.

Speaking during an interview on a local Radio station in Benin, Ndidi-Key, faulted the taxation policy of the State government for listing hawkers and small scale businesses with shoestring budget.

The business expert, promised to harness and leverage entrepreneurial skills of young Nigerians in building technology-based enterprises such as coding, Cyber security, and other opportunities, including Agriculture, solid minerals, and attract direct foreign investments if elected in the forthcoming poll.

She however promised to provide tax holiday to small scale businesses, noting that Edo people do not deserve to be poor if the right economic policy is put in place by the government at all levels.

“it’s wrong to build economy around taxation in a Country like Nigeria where the poverty index is high.
When businesses are overtaxed, people become poorer.

“What I have seen in Edo State, is that sachet water hawkers are taxed. It’s wrong. That is mind-bugging. So, we will provide tax breaks and tax holiday for small scale businesses.

“If we have a responsible government with a clear vision of what to do, Edo will be industrialized. You do not need to wait for N16 billion allocation from the federal government or security vote, which is met to fight crimes, but, goes into a private picket”, the PRP Candidate said.

The PRP Candidate further pledged to build a furniture village in Edo State and ensure that residents of the State and support the development and growth
of the State irrespective of class or social status.

She also revealed that as Chairman of Nigerian citizens in diaspora. While in United States of America, I worked with people in Commerce and sea Department.

“Investors are looking for people with integrity to do business with and get return on investment. We need to change bad leadership. Our vote is our straight”, she said.
