Group demands end to violence ahead of Edo poll

A citizen-led human right group, Talakawa Parliament has called on contending political parties and supporters and their Candidates in Edo State governorship election to end hostilities ahead of September 21st election.

The Speaker of group, Marxist Kola Edokpayi who made the appeal at a Media briefing, called on political gladiators to embrace peace and refrain from attacks for the interest of masses in the State.

He expressed displeasure over campaign of calumny and bitterness being exhibited by maverick political actors in response to the recent skirmishes and attacks between two main political parties.

Urging voters to come out to cast their votes for Candidates of their choice, the human right group, urged them to resist the temptation of falling victims of desperate politicians.

Edokpayi also urged political gladiators to desist from overheating the polity through thuggery and unleashing mayhem on innocent masses.

He further called on the Nigeria police to discharge its duties in line with constitution and police act by providing security for masses before during and after election and mop up firearms with unauthorized persons.

In addition, Edokpayi called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct a credible, free and fair poll to avoid crisis in the State.
