Edo approves Sept. 30 for school resumption

The Edo State government has approved Monday September 30th 2024 as resumption date for the 2024/25 academic session in both private and public schools across the State.

Permanent Secretary,
Ministry of Education, Ojo Akin–Longe disclosed in a statement on Monday September 23rd in 2024 on behalf of the State Commissioner for Education, Joan Oviawe.

Recall that Akin–Longe, had in a previous statement issued on behalf the government, postponed resumption of schools which were originally scheduled to reopen on Monday, 9th September 2024 indefinitely due to hike in prices of fuel by the federal government.

The new statement, which sought the understanding and cooperation of parents, guardians with Caregivers, denounced a subsequent false notification issued by mischief makers stating that schools should resume on Monday,
23rd September 2024.

It also said, “We wish to clarify that this announcement did not originate from the Edo
State Government and is the work of mischief makers. The information is false and should be
disregarded”.
