The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has been crowned Africa Outstanding University of the Year Award, 2023 for its focus and improved academic performance.

Similarly, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Lilian Salami was honoured as Africa Pillar of Education for her impact in Education development in the Continent.

Dr (Mrs) Benedicta Ehanire, the spokesperson of the University said in a statement that the Awards were presented at the 1st Africa Education Summit which held at the University of Rwanda, Kigali, Rwanda.

The statement partly read, “Besides her leadership role in the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Federal Universities, Professor Salami is the Vice President of the Association of African Universities with headquarters in Ghana; a position she has utilised to project and promote the achievements of many African Universities, including the University of Benin”.
