Edo poll: Obi LP warns INEC against glitches, rigging

Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential Candidate of Labour Party in 2023 general elections has warned Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against technical glitches and election results manipulation in Saturday September 21st 2024 Edo governorship poll.

Issuing the warning at the grand final rally of LP on Wednesday in Benin City, Obi stated there is excuse for failure, assuring that anyone that wants to subvert the will of voters in the election, would be rigged out by the people.

He described the choice of gubernatorial flag bearer of LP, Olumide Akpata, a former President of Nigeria Bar Association and his running mate, Asama Kadiri, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) as eminently qualified team with record of performance that will rescue the State from the clutches of underdevelopment and restore law and order as well as provide good governance if elected.

Obi who bemoaned the economic challenges associated with President Bola Tinubu under the fuel subsidy and hunger, said, “Let me use this medium to warn INEC. They said they will use Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BIVAS) and use INEC results viewing (IREV) portal. There should be no glitch. We are not looking for anybody’s votes.

“The time for rigging is coming to an end in this Country. Anybody that wants to rig this election, we will rig you. They is what they did and put everybody in trouble. Olumide is just our guy. He is our next Governor”, Obi said.

Obi further said the emergence of the acting national chairman of LP, Senator Nenadi Usman is historic being the first female national chairman of a political party in post Independence era.

Speaking at the rally, Olumide Akpata, LP Candidate in the election said he is on a mission to end years of holocaust of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) and rescue Edo people.

He also blamed the economic hardship faced by the people on mismanagement of resources, which account for poverty, desert and lack of infrastructure and basic amenities, especially in rural areas of the State.

Acting national chairman of LP, Senator Nenadi Usman, Alex Otti, Abia State governor who was represented by his Deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, urged voters not to succumb to threats and intimidation.

They also urged them to shun all forms of coercion and vote LP and defend their ballot in order to secure their lives and their families, which the party represents until the final results are declared.
