Doctor killed in hospital elevator crash was made ‘Guinea pig’ ― father

The father of Dr. Vwaere Diaso who was killed in a faulty elevator accident that occurred on Tuesday August 1, 2023 at Lagos Island General Hospital in Lagos State says his daughter was made ‘the Guinea pig’ by the Management.

The female graduate of Babcock University, Nigeria, crashed from the 10th floor to the ground floor and died two weeks to the completion of her horsemanship.

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Lagos State branch, Dr. Benjamin Olowojebutu said the grieving father of the victim made the allegation when he led a team of medical doctors to his residence to condole her family.

Dr Olowojebutu who disclosed this when he featured on Channels Television Sunrise Programme on Friday, insisted that the indefinite strike declared by NMA in three hospitals over Dr Vwaere’s death continues.

The NMA chairman said, “her father said to me that Sony daughter has to be the Guinea pig – To face of just the lift two weeks to finish her horsemanship. She was lookout up to it to join her family. But, the system killed her”.

According to him, “We have placed him (victim’s father) on medical support” to enable her aged father survive the grief caused by his daughter’s death since Monday to monitor his blood pressure from morning until he goes to bed”.

Dr Olowojebutu also called for though investigation and prosecution of the alleged culprits that caused the avoidable death of the doctor, which has depleted manpower in Nigeria hospitals.
