Hoodlums stone alleged cultist to death in Ogun

Hoodlums have stone a suspected cultist to death in Dopamu street via Bode-Olude, towards Miliki junction, off Elega housing Estate in Ogun State, police said.

The spokesperson for Nigeria Police Command in Ogun State, SP Omolola Odutola confirmed this on Tuesday in a statement.

Anonymous caller contacted Bode-Olude Divisional Police Officer, on 21st April, 2024 and reported that he saw hoodlums numbering about eight pursuing an unknown person he suspects to be cultist.

The statement said following the information, the Divisional Police Officer of Adatan and Bode-Olude immediately mobilized patrol team to the location where they discovered the lifeless body of a young man lying on the ground in a pool of his blood.

Operatives of the Nigeria Police evacuated the body of the yet-to-be identified young man, according to the statement, which said signs of violence were visible on the forehead of the deceased after
a careful examination.

SP Odutola said, “On enquiry, bystanders who spoke to the responding Police officers narrated how the hoodlums carried a weighted stone and smashed it on the deceased head which led to his death.

“Exhibits and weapons of crime, have been recovered while the body of the deceased have also been evacuated by the Divisional Police Officer and deposited at the General Hospital Morgue, Ijaye Abeokuta”, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police have given a standing order to the officer in charge of Anti-cultism uniti to unravel the perpetrators of this unacceptable broad daylight senseless attacks and killings.
