Poll: Don’t vote illiterate, Obaseki begs electorate

The governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki has appealed to electorate not to vote illiterate who does not know how to read in the September 21, 2024 Edo governorship election.

He dropped the hint while responding to questions at Stakeholders engagement meeting tagged, Edo Development: Benin City Master Plan held at Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub on Thursday in Oredo Local Government Area of the State

Obaseki pledged his support for Dr Asue Ighodalo Peoples Democratic party, PDP Candidate at the poll, for been a skillful and qualified administrator.

“Except for the population, Edo with about 5 million population is fast developing more than Lagos which has about 20 million population.

“Since we came in 2016, Edo has changed. But our prayer is for Edo State not to return back to her former state we met before.

“The only way is for us to have plan. And by the grace of God, we will bring someone who knows the dynamics of power and understands what governance is about instead of illiterate who does not know how to read”, Obaseki said.

The Governor said it is not the duty of government to give jobs to people, but it is the responsibility of government to create enabling environment for business that would create jobs to strive.

He said, “For those who said six months to go and you are talking about a Master Plan. Yes. It took us seven years to understand the depth of our problems in Edo.

“I am one of the persons who now know that Edo is great and Edo can truly be great because everything we need is here in Edo”, according o him.
