CP calls for truce as machine cuts off factory worker’s forearm

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha has empathized with a factory worker, Jeremiah Sulaiman
whose firearm was chopped off in machine mishap in Logbara village via Owode Area of the State.

The male employee, was in charge of machine handling and cleaning the ‘New Hope Industry’ (factory) where animal feeds are produced before the accident occurred at 12a.m on the 11th of August 2023.

The Public Relations officer, Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola stated in a statement that the Police Commissioner has summoned the executives of factory and members of the victim’s family to a meeting in his office as part of the investigation procedures.

SP Odutola, explained that the accident, was reported at Owode Egba Police Division was incident that occurred by the Administrative Manager of the factory, Ibidun Abiodun on the fateful day.

The statement which was silent on the time for the peaceful dialogue, said CP Mustapha has been briefed on the incident, and accordingly advised employees to “take steps to ensure their personal safety especially in the instant case involving automated machines”, noting that “are inevitable in work places”.

The statement explained that the injured factory worker, was immediately taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilishan, Ogun State, by the Production Manager and his immediate supervisor, where the victim was stabilized and responding to treatment.

The police statement called on parties in the dispute to exercise restraint, stating that “This will not be first time such incidents are reported, but members of the public can rest assured that the Commissioner of Police CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha is on top of this investigation”.

The police image maker, assured that “Preliminary investigation has begun into the unfortunate incident to unravel how the victim’s forearm was chopped off”.
