Eight corpses recovered as security agents repel attack by armed militia in Benue

The Nigeria Police Command has confirmed invasion of Akpuna village, Ukum Local government Area of Benue State in a renewed onslaught by criminal gangs against the State.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP. Catherine Anene in a statement, said eight persons died in the attack that occurred at 12p.m on Saturday, leaving scores injured and hospitalized.

SP. Anene said following information on sporadic gunshots by the armed gang, police teams in collaboration with other security agencies rushed to the area and engaged bandits who were eventually repelled the attack.

The statement said, “8 corpses were recovered at the scene, while many other injured persons were taken to hospital for treatment. Operation is ongoing in the area”.
