Mob set man ablaze for beheading Delta woman

Tragedy struck in Otor-Owhe community, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State on Tuesday when mob set a youth ablaze as retaliation for beheading his mother.

Sahara Reporters said the man simply identified as Oghenero, hacked the woman to death with a machete in a bush over allegation of slapping his mother.

The development provoked angry youths thereafter mobilized themselves and trailed the murder suspect to his hideout and set him ablaze in retaliation.

Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Command in Delta, Bright Edafe, has yet to respond to TheNewspad inquiry as during press time.

However, a Community source said, “The beheaded woman who was from Emevor and Orogun had allegedly slapped Oghenero’s mother over an argument.

“Getting home, Oghenero’s mother informed him of what transpired between her and the deceased woman.

“Immediately, Oghenero went straight to the bush and saw the woman farming and beheaded her and brought her head home.

“Reaching home with the head of the woman in a polythene bag, Oghenero was arrested by the local vigilante within the Community and was shot in the legs while trying to escape before he was set ablaze by irate youths of the Community”, according to the source.

TheNewspad reports that police security personnel have been deployed to calm frayed nerves and forestall breakdown of law and order in the locality.
