How retired Benue judge was murdered in kitchen — Police

Suspected assailants have reportedly murdered justice Mary Igbetar (retired) in her apartment in Benue State.

Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Command in the State, SP. Catherine Anene confirmed the tragedy in a statement on Saturday.

She said “a search conducted within her house at Wantor Kwange street, Gboko road, Makurdi led to the discovery of her dead body in a pool of blood inside her kitchen. It was also observed that she had deep cuts at her back.

The discovery followed information received at ‘E’ Police Division Makurdi, that Justice Margaret Mary Igbetar (rtd) could not respond to calls and was no where to be found at about 1530 hours on 24th August 2023 when detectives from homicide Department of the Command were immediately deployed for investigation.

SP. Anene assured that further investigation led to the arrest of one Aondohemba Joseph and recovery of exhibits for detailed investigation.
