Police authorities say it’s not unaware of ransom payment to set the abducted Onje Gye-Wado, the former governor of Nasarawa State after two days in captivity.

Recall that Gye-Wado was abducted by gunmen who broke into his residence in Gwagi Village in Wamba Local Government Area (LGA) of the State last week Friday.

The spokesman of Nasarawa State Command, SP. Ramhan Nansel while confirming the release of the former deputy governor to TheNewspad on Monday April 10, 2023.

He revealed that Mr Gye-Wado, was set free on Sunday night (yesterday night), due to the sustained efforts of a search party deployed to go after the hoodlums.

When asked if a ransom was paid by the family of the hostage for his release, Nansel said, “That we are not aware of. We don’t encourage or support payment of ransom”.

According to him, “He (Gye-Wado) was released yesterday around 9p.m. Since his abduction, police have been on the manhunt of the abductors. And last night, he was released due to sustained efforts of the search party deployed to go after them”.
