794 officials for CVR training in Edo, Ondo

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has shortlisted 794 officials for the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR training ahead of Edo and Ondo States governorship elections.

The Commission said each Centre will be managed by two officials drawn from our regular staff and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) during the CVR exercises, which will take place simultaneously from Monday 27th May 2024 to Wednesday 5th June 2024 from 9.00am to 3.00pm daily, including the weekend.

The Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mamood Yakubu said this at the second quarterly Consultative meeting with political parties held at the Commission’s Headquarters on Monday in Abuja.

He said 192 Ward registration Centres have been assigned in Edo State and 203 Centres in Ondo State, in addition to INEC State offices in Benin City and Akure in the two States, making a total of 397 walk-in registration centres in the two States.

Yakubu said there will be no online pre-registration option in the two States because of time constraint during the exercise.

“In the next few days, the Commission will commence the training of at least 794 officials for the exercise”, according to the INEC boss.

He explained that “the locations of the registration centres as well as other relevant information have been compiled in a detailed 28-page document included in your folders for this meeting”.

He also said, “The same information will be uploaded to our website and social media platforms for public information shortly”.

INEC had announced Saturday September 21, and Saturday November 16, 2024 for Edo and Ondo States governorship elections.

The Commission had published 17 names of the Governorship Candidates with the running mates of political parties fielding Candidates in the election.
