NLC ex-chair kicks over attack on protesters

A former chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr Ayuba Wabba has kicked against attack on citizens right to peaceful protestas guaranteed in international Conventions and Nigeria’s Constitution.

Wabba made the assertion at a gathering of Health Workers Union at the weekend in relation to the recent invitation of the President of NLC, Joe Ajaero by the Nigeria Police over alleged terrorism related offences and others.

He stated that if Nigeria’s democracy must grow, it must not be attacked under any guise, noting that “trade Unions should be seen as pillars of democracy”.

“Democracy must therefore yield dividends to workers and pensioners or their families. If you attack the fundamental right of
citizens, you are also attacking the right of workers”, according to Wabba.
