IGP vows to avenge fatal attack on Borno station

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has vowed to avenge the recent bomb attack at Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters, Borno State by suspected terrorists, resulting in the death of two gallant policemen.

Police Force Public spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement said the IGP commiserate with family of deceased officers, Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat, killed in the January 9th 2025 attack that occurred at 12:10a.m.

Egbetokun who condemned the attack, said the IGP ordered an immediate and thorough clampdown on the perpetrators, assuring that “no cop-killer will go unpunished”.

The police boss assured that the sacrifice of the officers who died in the line of duty will not be forgotten, as their benefits and entitlements will be paid to their families immediately.

Accordingly, the IGP, directed the Zone 15 Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, to mobilize adequate resources and personnel, collaborate with other security agencies in ensuring that perpetrators of this nefarious act are found and caused to face the full wrath of the law.

The statement reaffirms the IGP’s commitment of the Police Force to holding accountable those who jeopardise and disrupt the security arrangement and safety in Nigeria as the ongoing investigations continue.

The statement partly reads, “The IGP condemned the attack and ordered an immediate and thorough clampdown on the perpetrators, assuring that no cop-killer will go unpunished”.

“The IGP expresses deep condolences to the families of the deceased officers, affirming that their sacrifice in the line of duty will not be forgotten, as their benefits and entitlements will be immediately paid to their families”.
