Bandits kill two, kidnap Corps members in Ondo

An unspecified number of persons, including some members of of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been abducted by gunmen who also killed two persons in Ondo State.

Multiple reports revealed that the hostages were travelling on Saturday on Ifon/Owo road in Ose Local Government Area of the State where bandits ambushed and took them hostage.

The gunmen stationed at a security checkpoint on the Akure-Benin highway after policemen stationed at the place had left, a witness said.

“The criminals were at the police check point. The driver thought they were policemen.

“It was when he attempted to reverse that they shot him and the passenger. He was shot on the head”, according to the terrified witness.

SP Fumilayo Odunlami-Omisanyan, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Command in Ondo State who confirmed the incident, assured that security agents will secure the release of the hostages.
