The All Progressives Congress, APC has disclosed plans to engage vehicles and aircrafts to convey and mobilize eligible Edo State voters to return home and deliver on 3.5m votes for President Bola Tinubu in 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Television Continental,
TVC interview, monitored by TheNewspad Media,
the Chairman of APC, Edo State chapter, Jarrett Tenebe, reaffirmed the the State Governor, Monday Okpebholo’s earlier pledge to support the re-election of Tinubu, despite the daunting challenges ahead.
Tenebe said, “I am in Lagos today to talk to voters — most of the people actually registered in Edo State. So, I have been traveling round the entire Country to talk to our people and to get them to come and vote at home”.
Asked if APC could rely on diaspora support ahead of the election, Tenebe in affirmation. said, “yes. We will make transportation available for them. We will hire aircraft”.
“This election is a serious business. We know that it’s going to cost us a lot to get those votes. And we are ready to do it”, he said, “we know that as we are working, some people are working ahead to sabotage it, but, the Governor is a smart person, and he is working ahead of them”.
The APC chairman, dismissed earlier assertion by Governor Okpebholo that he will resign if Tinubu party (APC) loses Edo State in the 2027 Presidential election, noting that Okpebholo is not going to resign from his position if Tinubu loses, which he said is going to be extremely difficult.
According to him, “And he is not going to resign because we are going to get those votes definitely. The Hope agenda is working. That is the reason why the President is going to win the election massively”.
Reacting to claims that Nigeria democracy is drifting to one party State, Tenebe stated that he is praying daily for opposition parties in Nigeria to go into extinction, thereby marking it difficult for them to win elections.
He clarified however that it’s not the duty of the ruling party to prevent one path system, but opposition parties, which he claims are fragmented more than ever over internal wrangling amongst key political figures.
Tenebe also stated that “if opposition parties are able to organize themselves, they will be able to give the ruling party a showdown.
“But that is not coming in right now. “Rather, I pray for them (members of opposition parties) to continue to drift into problems so that we can capitalize on that and get their members to vote and re-elect the President”, Tenebe said.
