UNIBEN secures 100 percent accreditation of programmes by NUC

Date:

The University of Benin (UNIBEN), Benin City, Edo State has secured full accreditation of all its degree programmes offered in the institution by the National Universities Commission, NUC.

The feat, which is first time in many years, follows the successful accreditation exercise conducted by the Commission in October/November last year across Faculties, Schools and Centres in the University.

The spokesperson of the University of Benin, Dr Benedicta Ehanire, who confirmed this in a statement, said the NUC recently released the result of the accreditation exercise in a letter dated 7th April, 2026, addressed to the Vice Chancellor.

“Thrilled by the outcome, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN, attributed the stellar performance to hardwork and the commitment of Management and Staff to academic distinction while promoting high educational ideals and values.

“The Vice Chancellor applauded the University’s Senate, Faculties, Departments and relevant committees who worked assiduously, with the objectives of ensuring due diligence and adherence to the requirements for full accreditation.

Professor Omoregie, according to the statement, “reiterated his fidelity to the strengthening of the University’s undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes as outlined in his 5-point agenda”.

The full accreditation status of the University is for five years (till 2030), according to the University’s spokesperson.
