The Nigeria police detectives at Ibafo Division of the Command have arrested
three suspects, comprising a security guard and two others for conspiracy and theft of a motor vehicle, and recovered a stolen ash-coloured Lexus RX 300 Spot Utility Vehicle.
The Command’s spokesman, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi who confirmed the arrest of the male suspects identified as Obada Ezekiel, aged 27; Emmanuel Timothy, aged 25; and Yaya Yakubu, aged 27 on 18th April 2026 at about 1100hrs by the police.
In a statement, DSP OLuseyi said the suspects were arrested, following a credible anonymous tip-off which led operatives to track the suspects to a hideout within the Ibafo axis, where the stolen vehicle was recovered in their possession.
He explained that the suspects include Obada Ezekiel ‘M’, a private security guard attached to the vehicle, alongside Emmanuel Timothy ‘M’ and Yaya Yakubu ‘M’.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the security guard conspired with the two others to steal the vehicle from Lagos and move it to Ibafo for disposal”, he said.
According to the statement, the suspects are currently in custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives of the Ibafo Division for their swift response.
He also lauded the personnel professionalism, and effective utilization of intelligence, which led to the successful arrest and recovery of the stolen vehicle.
He further appreciated members of the public for providing timely and useful information, while reiterating the Command’s resolve to sustain intelligence-led policing across the State, while assuring residents of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property always.
