Police begin rescue operation for 15 hostages on Calabar -Oron waterway

A joint police and navy operation is underway to rescue 15 passengers, who were kidnapped by gunmen during the Calabar waterway abduction last weekend.

 

The spokesman of the Nigeria police Command in Cross River State, SP Eitokpah Sunday disclose this in a statement on Monday.

 

“With respect to the alleged abduction of fifteen (15) passengers aboard a Sea Express boat en route from Calabar to Oron on Friday.

 

“The Command is working in close synergy with the Akwa Ibom State Police Command and the Nigerian Navy.

 

“Coordinated search-and-rescue and tactical operations are currently ongoing to ensure the safe recovery of the victims and the swift apprehension of the perpetrators”, according to the police spokesman.
