Anambra resident gun down by armed robbers

A yet-to-be identified resident of Anambra State has been gun down by suspected armed robbers on the Onitsha/Owerri Express Road in the State.

Spokesman for the Nigeria police Command in Anambra State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said this in a statement.

Citing witness account, Ikenga said police Operatives attached to Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters responded to a distress call on the Onitsha/Owerri Express road and recovered the abandoned corpse by hoodlums who fled the scene after the incident.

It also sought the assistance from members of the public for identification and information for necessary investigation.

Part of the statement reads: “In the early hours of 23rd January 2025, Police Operatives attached to Ozubulu Divisional Headquarters responded to a distress call along the Onitsha/Owerri Express Road and recovered the body of a yet to be identified young man.

“The Command hereby seeks assistance from members of the public for possible identification of the victim and other information that will facilitate the ongoing investigative proceedings”, it said.

The statement also said the body has been deposited at a morgue for preservation, assuring that further developments shall be communicated.
