US based Sowore’s call for protest in Nigeria fail

Nigerians in social Media community have rejected the co-convener of #Revolution Now, Mr Omoyele Sowore’s invitation to participate in #EndBadGovernance protests schedule for August 1 across Nigeria.

Sowore came under attack on social Media after his video where he appealed to Nigerians from his home in New Jersey, United States of America with his family.

The unsavory responses caused commotion after he published that ‘Benin City is READY!
The Meeting Point is Museum Ground, King’s Square, Ring Road,
Benin City. TIME: 7AM’.

Some Nigerians embraced Sowore’s invitation wholeheartedly, but others considered his comments as inflammatory and either self-centered or done in bad fate by a Human Rights activist who escaped been jailed by Nigerian government in connection with 2020 EndSARS violence.

A Facebook user, Prince Lucky Igbinedion wrote: “You and your family must return to Nigeria let’s start the protest together. You cannot instigate a protest in absentia”.

Another Facebook user, Fakolade Temitope said,
“And you are in US or UK, you have your passport while can’t you be on ground as a leader to lead by example”.

Similarly, Olanrewaju Abubakar Okoh challenge Sowore to come with Nigeria and join the peaceful protest as a mark of patriotism.

According to him, “Bring your family to live in Nigeria. Mandela’s children and wife marched with him many times”.

On his part, Olaide Delight, wrote: “I pity parents that will lost stubborn sons and daughters in this protest.

“Sowore children are safe abroad and he’s telling you the child of nobody to go and die and you’re here shouting we mount we mount”, he said

He also wondered “Why not ask him to mount with his wife and children? Nelson Mandela always go out to protest side by side with his wife and children. Those pushing you to protest kept their own family abroad.

“Don’t worry, make everybody sha go do the protests in their respective states not Lagos again. This time around, we won’t watch like during endsars destruction of Lagos”, Delight said.

Also, Stanley Ose, a Facebook user said, “Benin is not ready Oga among all the 36 States in Nigeria is only Benin you start with please start with your State, una (Edo people) want to they use Benin start fight but no good things giving to the Benin’s leave us alone we nor be mugu”.

TheNewspad reports that other Nigerians lambasted Sowore, the Publisher of Sahara Reporters for failing to learn lessons from the carnage that the historic #EndSARS riot cost Nigerians especially in Lagos and Edo States.

Meanwhile, Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, has cautioned Nigerians against participating in a planned protest dubbed “Day of Rage” called by political activist Omoyele Sowore. Onanuga revealed that Sowore, who is currently abroad, is inciting Nigerians to protest while he remains safely in his home in New Jersey, United States, with his family.

In a video shared by Onanuga, Sowore stated that he would join the protest virtually. The presidential aide urged Nigerians to be wise and not fall for Sowore’s tactics. The planned protest, set to begin on August 1 and last for 10 days, demands an end to bad governance, the scrapping of the Senate, and the release of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu. Onanuga’s warning comes as tensions rise ahead of the planned demonstration.
