Three hostages held in Edo fatal abduction

Three hostages were abducted by gunmen on Igbogiri- Ugomoson axis, Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State, highlighting the growing concern about kidnappings in Nigeria.

A resident in the locality, Egbunde who related on Wednesday October 3rd 2024 incident via a Whatsapp voice note to a Benin based journalist, appealed to security agents, other relevant authorities to urgently intervene and halt further incidents of kidnappings in the agrarian Communities.

Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Command in Edo State, SP Moses Joel Yamu, confirmed the incident, and assured that efforts are underway to track the criminal suspects and rescue the hostages.

“The police are working to track the suspects and rescue the abducted individuals”, according to him.

TheNewspad reports that hostilities, forced depressed residents of the locality to flee their homes in order not to be caught up in the onslaught, sources said.

The lastest abduction, followed the abduction of another resident of the area, known as Justice, who paid allegedly paid N7.2 million to secure his release from captivity.
