Soludo okays N12,000 palliatives for 59,000 Anambra residents

The Anambra State government has approved the sum of N12,000 (Twelve Thousand Naira) for disbursement to 59,000 persons across the 21 Local Council Areas of the State.

The palliative is met to cushion the effects of recent removal of petrol subsidy, cutting across different sectors and demography of the State in line with President Bola Tinubu’s N5 billion palliatives approved for each State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as intervention fund.

Christian Aburime, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo said in a statement
the Governor announced the relief package on Tuesday in Awka, the State Capital where he said the package is in addition to the initial salary increase, every pensioner and public servant in the State.

The statement explained that 59,000 persons will be paid a monthly flat non-taxable cash award of N12,000 from September 2023 to December 2023, while workers in the State will enjoy palliatives salary increase and cash award.

Aburime said the Government had exempted hawkers, wheel barrow and truck pushers, artisans, Okada rider and petty traders with capital of less than N100,000 from all forms of taxation/levies.
