Suspected drug dealer knocks down NDLEA operative while evading arrest

A suspected dealer has reportedly knocked down operative of the National Drug Law enforcement agency in Lagos State after driving his luxury car to crush an NDLEA officer in his bid to escape arrest.

The notorious drug dealer, Sowunmi Ayodeji Kayode, was said to have committed the act when anti-narcotic agents who stormed his house at the weekend Lekki in Lagos State.

Spokesman for the NDLEA, Mr Femi Babafemi said in a statement on Wednesday that the Agency has launched manhunt for the suspect, now at large.

Babafemi explained that “in a dramatic twist, as soon as he drove into the premises and sighted NDLEA officers, he engaged his car in reverse gear, knocked down one of the officers, pulled down his gate before plunging the vehicle into the fence of the opposite compound.

The force of his cars speed also pulled down the concrete wall of his neighbours compound and from there he dived out of the vehicle to escape, according to the statement.

The NDLEA operative who was knocked down, according to the agency, suffered multiple injuries all over his body and compound fracture on his two legs, for which he is currently on hospital admission for treatment.

A total of 10.5 kilograms of Loud, was recovered from the suspect’s apartment during a search operation that was conducted by the security agents.

In the mean time, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Mr Mohamed Buba Marwa, has directed the deployment of appropriate operational assets of the Agency to smoke out the wanted suspect from his hiding.

Marwa also approved adequate medical care for the injured officer so that he can get back on his feet as soon as possible.
