One of the robbery suspects who invaded Apaatuku/Onireke at Akobo area in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital has been shot dead in an unbearable tragedy.

The assailants killed one Makanjuola Ogedengbe and raped his two daughters (minors)during the incident that occurred on 14 May, 2023.

Spokesman of the Nigeria Police Command in Oyo State, SP. Osifeso Adewale in a statement said the rape victims ages are 14 and 10.

He explained that Ogedengbe was shot while another suspected assailant who joined in the raping the two daughters of the slain robbery victim during the incident, Sodiq, has been apprehended by the police.

The police spokesman said three males suspects, Abiodun Olalekan (32, Abolade Morenikeji 34) and Ibrahim Rasaq (31) and another, Sodiq, who was the alleged leader of the gang, was killed in the operation by the Community security guards.

He also explained that the assailants also shot at the Community’s night guard who is currently receiving treatment, noting that investigation into the crime has began.

The statement partly read, “During investigation, it was revealed that one Ibrahim Rasaq ‘m’ 31yrs, one Abiodun Olalekan ‘m’ 32yrs, and one Abolade Morenikeji ‘m’ 34yrs, who were earlier arrested in connection with the armed robbery operation at Sawia Estate at Ogbere in Ibadan, which was reported on 16 April 2023, are the same gang who invaded Apaatuku/Onireke Community.

“The two raped daughters of the deceased were allegedly raped by Abolade Morenikeji ‘m’ and one Sodiq ‘m’ respectively. The said Sodiq, who was the group, alleged leader was killed in the operation by the Community security guards”, SP. Adewale said.
