Northerner caught after beheading man in Edo

Tragedy struck when a migrant worker from Katsina State, Ibrahim Useni reportedly beheaded a motorcyclist and his Cousin identified only as Hassan in Evbo Arhue Community, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State over a protracted dispute between them.

It was gathered that the murder suspect, allegedly slayed his brother who was formerly declared missing by his kinsmen, after pleading with the victim to take him to a bush on his motorcycle on the pretext of getting herbs to treat his stomach disorder in Evbo Arhue Community.

Leader of Arewa in Evbo Arhue, Musa Suleiman who condemned the incident, stated that the criminal suspect (Useni) wheeled a machete and told the victim (brother) immediately he alighted from a motorcycle and severed his neck off his shoulders and abandoned him in the pool of his own blood.

During an interview the Arewa leader also admitted that the duo, had a quarrel with his brother which was resolved in Kaduna, but unknown to the victim that his brother has yet to forgive him.

Suleiman said, “At about 5-6p.m, he (Hassan) took his brother on his motorcycle after lying to him that he had stomach disorder, to a bush and get herbs for treatment. The victim obliged him. But when they got to a farm road, Useni said he was going to kill him and cut off his neck with a cutlass”.

Confirming the incident, Deputy Corps Commander, Edo State Security Corps, Richard Balogun, stated that the suspect thereafter escaped with his mobile phone and the sum of N26,000 cash from him.

He lamented however that the suspect had send the money home in Katsina State before he was arrested by personnel of the Edo State Security Corps who also recovered a machete and his phone at the scene of crime.

Balogun, explained that the incident has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID of the Nigeria police Command in the State for further investigation and diligent prosecution.

“Corps went under cover after the incident and arrested the criminal suspect who also confessed to the crime”, the security officer said, “after killing the guy, he removed his money and transferred it home”.
