The State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa told a news conference at the Command’s Headquarters in Umuahia that the move was in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police and part of activities marking National Police Day.

He noted that the cheques, comprising Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare packages, were meant to support the families of officers who died in active service.

The police boss noted that the gesture was in compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and reflects the Force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families.

Providing updates on security operations, Isa revealed that between January 2026 and date, the Command recorded 142 criminal cases, leading to the arrest of 226 suspects.

According to him, many of the cases have been investigated and charged to court, while suspects have been remanded in correctional centres for prosecution.

On the fight against cultism, the Commissioner said the Command investigated 13 cult-related cases, arrested 23 suspects, and recovered 32 arms during various operations.

He added that the suspects have been arraigned in court and remanded, while five additional cult-related cases are currently under investigation.

The CP emphasized that the Command maintains zero tolerance for cultism and remains committed to sustaining peace and security across the state.

He further disclosed that through intelligence-led operations, the police rescued trafficked and stolen children, recovered 46 firearms and 16 rounds of ammunition, and dismantled several criminal networks.

Isa attributed these efforts to a noticeable reduction in crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, defilement, rape, child trafficking, and unlawful possession of firearms.

The Command also recovered stolen vehicles, tricycles, and motorcycles, rescued kidnapped victims, and seized substances suspected to be cannabis and other illicit drugs.
