On Sunday March 19, 2023 afternoon tragedy struck in Erie Street, off Sokponba Road in Oredo Local Government Area of the State which happened one week after he assaulted a Pastor arising from disagreement over security levy for worship Centre.

Eguabor, a Coach in charge of Boxing in Edo State Ministry of Sports Council and head of Edo State Security Network in Erie and its environs fled his home after committing the crime, barely one month after the victim’s wife put to bed.

The father of three, responded to an invitation by his younger sister who is a renowned Judoka in the same Sports Ministry, to settle a quarrel in his in-law’s house where Eguabor who had represented Nigeria in international boxing competition in the past, allegedly gave him a heavy punch on his nose and eye
