Group demands arrest of Enugu governor-elect Mbah for alleged perjury

A pressure group, Greater Enugu Youth Movement has demanded for the arrest and prosecution of the acclaimed governorship election, Peter Mbah for alleged perjury.

The request to Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Usman Baba, ahead of May 29, 2023 swearing-in of the Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who was declared winner of the 2023 governorship election in Enugu by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Expectedly, the governor-elect had filed a case against the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, demanding N20 billion for injuries he claimed to have been inflicted on his person arising from the controversies surrounding his Certificate.

This was after the Director General of NYSC, Brig Gen Y.D Ahmed, had said on a satellite television that the NYSC Mba is parading was fake.

Rising from a emergency meeting in Egede Community in Udi Council Local government Area of the State, the group alleged that Mbah has in his hands government documents that were alleged forged.

“He (Mbah) has also admitted they belong to him, which means he forged them or knows those who forged them. He has been parading those alleged documents as if they were genuine.” He is trying to use those documents to claim rights under the law. “

The insisted that “What else do the police need to arrest the man? He has confessed to a crime. “In a civilized society, he should be arrested immediately”. He has no immunity yet. and should be arrested immediately.

The noted with shock to when the Director-General of NYSC told the world that Peter Mbah’s NYSC certificate was a forgery.

“Of course, what shocked everybody within Nigeria and in diaspora including the internal community was the revelation of  the Director-General  NYSC in a nation wide interview
and he could be so open and so blunt about it.

“There was no attempt to sugar-coat his words to protect Mbah. No attempt to be diplomatic or equivocal about it. He stated it just as it is. Directing his words to the acclaimed Governor elect, whom he identified as “a Governor-elect who is also a lawyer”, the Director-General said:

His words “You came to NYSC office for verification and we told you the Olawale NYSC certificate you’re parading was not issued from us”

According to the group this tells is a clear evidence that all those letters about remobilization and directing him to “continue from where he stopped” were themselves also forgeries.

“The testimony of the NYSC D-G had its impact. Nobody could fault him. He is not a politician. Nobody could accuse him of being Mbah’s political opponent. Nobody could blame it on Edeoga. It came from the Director-General of the NYSC himself.

The group queried that  apart from that, there are many other reasons to know that the Director-General was right. Mbah did not perform his NYSC because he was Chief of Staff to Chimaroke Nnamani. He found being Chief of Staff more rewarding than performing his NYSC.

“But why bother? Why forge documents? What else did Mbah forged in his life. You will be shocked. Did he forge his law degree certificate? Did he forge corporate documents of Pinnacle Oil? Your guess may be as good as ours. the group concluded

“In a civilized world, there is more than sufficient evidence for the police to arrest him now. Forging a document is a serious crime”, according to the group.
