Enugu youths vow to resist promoters of electoral malpractices

Youths in Enugu North Senatorial district, comprising seven Council areas of Enugu State have vowed to resist political thugs and promoters of violence malpractices against the peaceful conduct of governorship and State houses of Assembly elections in the State.

The resolution was reached at youths emergency meeting held at Adada hall in Nsukka Council area of Enugu State ahead of the Saturday March 18, 2023 polls.

The body in Communique that was jointly endorsed by Dr Sam Ugwu and Ignatius Alumona national President and Publicity Secretary of Adada Youth movement on Monday, pledged their support for Mr Peter Obi and Mr Chijioke Jonathan Edoga of Labour Party, which the group tagged the Nsukka Zone Obidient Youths for Jonathan Edoga, Labour Party in the election.

The youths who were drawn from the seven Council areas of the Zone  threatened that it wouldn’t take it kindly with any chairman of the Council area who allows its Local government area to be used as a political battle ground in the coming Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections.

The youths sincerely appreciated the youths for conducting themselves in orderly manner during and after the Presidential and National Assembly elections, just as flayed alleged attempts by maverick politicians to subvert the will of the people of Nsukka.

The Communiqué partly read, “We therefore call on the youths of Nsukka Cultural Zone of Enugu State that are to be hired for this illicit job to roundly reject and call these hirelings who only remembers them when it’s time to do bad jobs like that out”.

The youths reiterated that they are aware of the political killings and confrontations going on in Enugu East Nkanu Zone, leading to the death of Barr Oyibo Chukwu of Labour Party which the masterminds are planning to bring to Enugu North, Nsukka Zone.

While urging eligible voters in the locality to turn out en mass on Saturday 18th March, 2023 to exercise their franchise without fear or capitulation to threat and intimidation, commended the State governor, Mr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for peacefully conceding defeat in previous Senatorial election.

The Communiqué further said, “As a pro-youth group of the people of Nsukka Cultural Zone, we say no to any killing, shooting, maiming or attack on any individual or group before, during or after the elections in our Zone.
