Eight suspects held over killings in Edo community

The Nigeria Police Command in Edo State has arrested eight suspects said to have actively participated in the mayhem and alleged murder in Obazagbon Community, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.

The Command’s spokesman, CSP Moses Yamu, who confirmed this on Wednesday in a statement, stated that normalcy has been restored after days of rage over leadership tussle in the Community which has been embroiled in violence.

He gave the names of all male suspects as Obayuwana Happy (25), Uhunwangho Everest (52), and 21-year-old Chidera Umeh.

Others include, Joshua Edo (50), Simon Benjamin (39), Odion Adagbonyin (43), Kennedy Ohro 42yrs and 41-year-old Osayi Adagbonyin.

The statement lamented the killing of a deaf and dumb artisan simply identified as Mr Efe during the crises which resulted in destruction and burning of properties worth millions of Naira in Obazagbon.

Police said the feat, was recorded by Divisional Police Officer of Iyekogba Division led Operatives of the “Operation Rescue” and Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

CSP Yamu said the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, has vowed that “all those found culpable would be made to face the full wrath of the law”.

Otimenyin, reiterated “the Command’s resolve to ensure that the safety of lives and properties remains paramount in the State”.
