A Septuagenarian simply identified as Mr Ogbeide has allegedly punched his wife to death in Imairoghionba street, off 2nd East Circular Road in Oredo Local government Area of Edo State.
The assault erupted on Saturday afternoon when the Couple got into an argument over alleged infidelity against Ogbeide’s wife whose identify could not be immediately verified.
Witnesses told TheNewspad that Mr Ogbeide attacked his wife in their residence after an argument degenerated while she was wearing make up preparatory for a burial Ceremony.
Apparently sensing danger, his wife put off the party, according to witnesses, yet, Mr Ogbeide persisted, prompting the mother of one to stage a walk out on her husband.
It was also learnt that when the victim’s health began to deteriorate, her relatives and kind hearted neighbours, immediately took her to a medical facility.
A medical examination that was carried out on her revealed that she had internal bleeding arising from the bruises inflicted on her body.
It was further leant that before her family members could raise a deposit before treatment could commence, the injured housewife, gave up the ghost.
After the Septuagenarian learn of his wife demise, he fled his in-law’s house in Imairoghionba street, off 2nd East Circular Road where the Couple was a squatter before the tragedy occurred.
Men of the homicide Department of the Nigeria Police at Esigie Division have visited the crime scene; Just as efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fugitive, who was also speculated to be under the influence of alcohol.
Our Correspondent reports that some occupants in the house, were spotted mourning their family member whose body has been deposited at a morgue for preservation.
A petty trader in the neighborhood, said the late housewife, had opted for divorce, after a similar assault occurred months ago.
Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Command in Edo State, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor, could not be reached as at the time of filing this report.
