Edo police evacuate six bodies of communal clash victims

No fewer than six persons have been killed in Okhun Community, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

This come barely 24 hours after a footage of three members of Edo State Security Network shot dead by gunmen in the same Council Area, hits the internet.

Violence broke out on Thursday when some yet-to-be identified miscreants invaded the locality, killing six persons and thereafter fled the area to different locations.

The victims of the clash over land tussle, died on-the-spot before the arrival of security agents in Okhun after a protracted boundary dispute with its neighbouring Communities.

Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Command, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor disclosed this in a telephone interview on Saturday.

He said six persons were killed in the attack, while some suspects arrested in connection with the crime are in police custody.

SP. Nwabuzor stated that six bodies recovered in the clash have been recovered by the police and deposited at a morgue.

He also assured that investigation into the killings has commenced and assured of safety of lives and properties of Okhun residents.

The police spokesman, “Six persons have been confirmed dead in the attack on the Community.

“Investigation is ongoing. Some persons have been arrested”, according to SP. Nwabuzor who enjoined the people to be careful in handling “traditional matters”.

TheNewspad reports that tension has engulfed the Community, while some residents, including women and elderly, fled their homes after the clash broke out on Thursday.
