ONE OF THE ‘LUNATICS’ BEING ARRESTED BY SECURITY OPERATIVES ATTACHED TO THE TASKFORCE AT THE KING SQUARE, BENIN CITY

The ongoing operation was carried out on collaboration with security agents in a renewed onslaught to rid the City Centre of the menace, amid reported cases of violent assault on lawful citizens and theft.

TheNewspad reports that the ongoing exercise took the task force attached to the State Ministry for Gender Affairs around Urhokpota Hall, Ibiwe street, Mission road, round the King square, Benin City.

Some lunatics submitted themselves to the team, but others who resisted arrest, were forcefully picked up by armed security personnel and taken to a undisclosed rehabilitation Centre.

A drama ensued after one of the arrested woman seen as a mentally-deranged person who was picked in front of Urhokpota Hall, pleaded for leniency, revealing that her husband is a Guard at Oredo Local Government Council Secretariat.

Officials of the Ministry, declined comments on the exercise. But, bystanders including traders and commuters who welcome the the move by the Government, sued for its sustenance in a bid to serve as a deterrent to other squatters in the locality.

They also appealed to the government to extend the raid to beggars around other locations including a popular worship Centre on Mission Road Area in the City.
