‘Ebo stone’ in custody for serious assault on officer ahead of his arraignment, says PPRO

The Nigeria police Command in Edo State has confirmed the arrest and detention of a Benin-based socialite,

Kelly Okungbowa popularly known as Ebo Stone over allegation of seriously assault yet-to-be named police officer in the line of duty.

The Commissioner of police in Edo State, CP Monday Agbonika, ordered his arrest after the violent attack occurred on Saturday.

The Command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem said in an interview with TheNewspad Media on Sunday in Benin City that Okungbowa currently cooling off his heels in police custody, will be appear in court soon.

“Yes. ‘Ebo stone’ is in our custody for a serious assault on a police officer while performing his lawful duty. He will be arraigned accordingly”, the police spokesperson said.

Okungbowa, was sacked

as the Coordinator of Public Safety Response Team (PSRT) in March 2025 arising from multiple public complaints regarding extortion, harassment, and unruly behavior by the team’s personnel.

He was thereafter appointed as Edo South Youth Coordinator for Asiwaju 2027, shortly after he linked with the alleged assault of a female staffer of Edo Broadcasting Service, Juliet Asein at the Edo State Government House in Benin City.
