A 32-year-old security guard, Friday Ayuba, has been taken into police custody for allegedly stealing automobile spare parts belonging to his employer at Ita-Asu Village, via Owode-Egba in Ogun State.
The spokesman of the Nigeria police Command in the State, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said in a statement that the suspect was nabbed while attempting to escape at the Sagamu Interchange axis on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway by the Quick Response Squad (QRS) operatives in Ogun.
The arrest, according to the statement, followed a report received at the Division on 30th May 2026 at about 6:00pm from the manager of the affected company, who informed the police that the suspect had previously been arrested by the police personnel.
The statement explained that “the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation”, he said police detectives promptly visited the scene for further investigation and documentation.
Accordingly, the recovered items
including four air controls, two air boosters, two engine seats, and two fuel pumps, all identified as property of the company, were secured as exhibits by the police authority.
The statement added: “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, an employee of the company, was found in possession of several motor spare parts suspected to have been unlawfully removed from the company’s premises”.
The police spokesman revealed that the suspect reportedly admitted to the theft during the course of investigation, ahead of his date in court when investigation is concluded by the police.
