The Founder of Madonna University, Okija in Anambra State, Prof Emmanuel Edeh has declared that females students admitted into the Private institution as virgins and marry as virgins after their graduation.
Prof. Ede who stoked the hornets nest while delivering the graduation speech of the University on Wednesday March 20th 2024, amid loud ovation by students of the school, parents and invited guests and staff.
According to the Chancellor of the faith-based University, “Only in this University this is clearly maintained that girls who enter the University as virgins, graduate as virgins”.
“Tell me any other University in the whole world that can maintain it. That is why people from London, America, England, Germany — when I meet them, they will say fire down. We want to marry a girl who is a virgin. And the only way to do that is to come to Madonna University”, he advised.
But, the Founder of the University who neither gave details of the Medical reports of the female students of the school or show any other substantial evidence to butress his claim at the Ceremony, which almost punctuated by surprise.
The Presidential Candidate of Labour Party, LP in the 2023 general elections, Mr Peter Obi, canvassed the need for government to support the funding of Private Universities in Nigeria.
The deputy Governor of Rivers State, Prof. Ngozi Odu, was also honoured by the Management of the first Private Catholic University in Nigeria, which was founded in 1999.
TheNewspad reports that aside the online buzz Prof. Ede’s conjecture has caused, netizens are also criticizing him online for not backing his claim with scientific evidence.
