‘Car snatcher’ escapes death in Edo road crash

A suspected criminal narrowly escaped death in a road accident after snatching a Toyota Hilux vehicle from the driver on wheel at a gun point with other gang members (now at large) on Ekpoma-Auchi road in Edo State.

The yet-to-be named middle-aged suspect was apprehended after a hot chase by police operatives who prevented angry youths in the area from setting him ablaze on Saturday.

In a short video posted on Facebook, a witness alleged that the fleeing suspect was demobilized after the snatched vehicle had a burst tyre, forcing the vehicle to slow down.

It was leant that youths mounted guard with armed police personnel and ensure that he does not escape before he was immediately taken into police custody.

TheNewspad investigation revealed that the incident happened when the security with Heads of security agencies meeting was ongoing at the Palace of Onojie of Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area.

Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Command, CSP Moses Yamu has yet-to respond to inquiry by our TheNewspad reporter.
