Igbanor, the fourth prominent Edo citizen that had been honoured with the rare gift, including a business tycoon, Lady Doris Oboh and former Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Esohe Ikponmwen since Oba Ewuare II ascended the throne six years ago.

It was in recognition of Igbanor distinguished service on NTA and the promotion of Edo Cultural heritage.

Addressing the Benin throne in appreciation of the priceless gift, Edo State Deputy Governor, Mr Philip Shaibu, thanked the Oba for the recognition, which he said demonstrates that there is a reward for diligence and hard work.

Shaibu who spoke on behalf of some traditional rulers from Edo North and Edo Central Senatorial districts, top Management staff of NTA, Igbanor’s family, friends and well-wishers, assured that the recognition would spur other Nigerians to strive for excellence in their various crafts.

“She (Igbanor) conquered and her testimony shows that but for us, those testimonies were for those that have worked with her.

“But the major testimony that elated all of us was when she brought the news that she has been given a bead by our father, the Royal Majesty. For us, that was the climax of honour.

“She will not come alone to say thank you; for the testimony of appreciation that reached out when we got the news.

“Beyond the presence of the traditional rulers, I had to cancel a lot of things to be here and thank my father.

“This honour is also to let others that are coming after her to know that there is reward in good service. Now, the whole world is clamouring for role models. And the only way that we can catch role models for ourselves, is when we honour those that have done well,” Shaibu said.

Responding, His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin, prayed to God Almighty and his ancestors to bless Mrs Igbanor and wish her well in her future endeavour.

Cultural troupes from Benin City and Etsako, spiced up the occasion, while the NTA retiree, Igbanor who caught the attention of Royal fans, exhibited her dancing skills, along with guests to the delight of the Royal fathers at the event.
