13 suspected arms manufacturers, teenagers caught at training ground

Police detectives in Benue State Command have caught 13 suspected arm s manufacturing syndicate who recruit and train teenagers in the illicit trade at their training ground.

Command’s spokesperson, SP. Catherine Anene said one Fater Terkula Sunday and Jem Demesugh were arrested at their hideout by detectives, following information gathered about arm dealers on Adikpo – Vandeikya road at about 1620hrs on November 15, 2023,

During stop-and-search by detectives, led to the recovery of six (6) locally fabricated barretta pistols and a motorcycle, according to the statement, which said three teenagers below 13 years, were also arrested at the training ground.

SP. Anene said in a statement said further investigation led to the arrest of Ternenge kpamngu, Terkula Ihyungwa also known as Japan, Aondo kusugh, Chukwudi Udeh and nine others suspects.

The statement said: “Following information gathered about arm dealers along Adikpo – Vandeikya road, police detectives were deployed to the area to clamp down on the syndicate. On 15/11/2023 at about 1620hrs, the team burst their hideout and arrested one Fater Terkula Sunday and Jem Demesugh . On the spot search of the hideout led to the recovery of six (6) locally fabricated barretta pistols and a motorcycle”.

“Additional exhibits recovered from them include; one locally made barretta pistol, two gas cylinders, one welding cylinder, two welding nozzles and a Sienna bus”, according the statement.

“Suspects confessed that they have been in the business of producing and selling arms as well as training teenagers on arms Manufacturing. Three teenagers of less than 13 years were also arrested at the training ground”, by security agents.
