Guards pluck off man’s eye after security breach accusation

Police operatives in Ogun State have arrested two security agents, Michael Adelayo and Ganiyu for plucking off the right eye of Mr Ramon Rasaq with gunshot for alleged security breach when the abandoned their duty post.

The Nigeria Police Command in the State said in a statement on Tuesday, that the incident happened on September 2, 2023, while the case was reported to the police by the younger brother of the victim, Abiodun Fatai.

The statement that was signed by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola said the victim lost one of his eyes in connection with the crime at Sango Ota, Abiodun Fatai area of the State.

She said one of the security men, Ganiyu Saka allegedly shot Ramon Rasaq in his eyes after a heated altercation with security men on their street, broke out among them.

The statement explained the victim was urgently taken to a traditional healer who successfully removed seven pellets from his right eye that arose from the attempted murder.

CSP Saleh Dahiru, the Divisional Police Officer of Sango Ota, according to the police, “provided the necessary medical forms for Ramon to be transferred to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. At the hospital, he received immediate medical attention to stabilize his condition”.

The statement also said, “although he unfortunately lost his right eye, the doctor on duty assured that Ramon is currently responding positively to treatment”.

According to the police, “The quarrel ensued when Ramon opened the gate himself as the two security men, Michael Adelayo “m” and Ganiyu Saka “m” were not on guard at their security post at the time he got to gate, making his way into the street angered them.

“This led to a quarrel, and during the escalating scuffle, one of the security men, Ganiyu Saka shot Ramon Rasaq in his eyes”.

SP. Odutola said, “following the incident, the victim was rushed to a traditional healer who successfully removed seven pellets from his right eye”.

Accordingly, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Abiodun Alamutu, has directed that the suspects be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
