Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu on Wednesday said most Nigerian youths who voted for Mr Peter Obi, Candidate of Labour instead of him are hurt over his victory in February 23rd 2023 polls, urging them not to be disappointed.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Tinubu who was the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday February 23rd 2023 presidential election, after polling a total of 8,794,726 valid votes, ahead of his rival in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, who scored 6,984,520 votes and the Labour Party, Candidate, Peter Obi trailed behind with 6,101,533, alongside Rabiu Kwankwaso of New Nigerian Peoples Party that scored 1,496,687.

Tinubu spoke after he received his Certificate of return to the President-elect from INEC along the Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima on Wednesday afternoon at the international Conference Centre in Abuja.

According to the president-elect, “Many of our youths did not vote for me. And I know that you are disappointed that your Candidate did not stand where I stand now.

“For those who didn’t support me, do not allow the disappointed and

“I understand. You are hurt. You’re angry and disappointment”, he said.

He said, “the road has been long yet we work it. The battle has been hard, yet we won it”, Tinubu said his Certificate of return is worth more than a document.

He dedicated the day as a day citizens come together and shiny folks who are committed to progress sand development with a renewed vigour and hope.

He described his election as a call to duty that he will never ignore and promised to work to his utmost ability to make Nigeria better for all Nigerians.

He called on his co-contestants to support him in rebuilding of Nigeria and urged his supporters to have faith in his ability to deliver the dividend of democracy.

Continuing, the president elect said: “This is more than a document symbolises our democratic attainment and lofty aspirations.

“I am not different than anyone of you. If I can do this, you even can do better.

“Very soon, this nation shall witness a young person standing before you.

“My doors and hearts are opened to you.

“Where there is brutality, we may replace it with brother. Where there is violence, we may establish peace.
