President Bola Tinubu has directed the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, to handover their portfolios to their successors within the next 24 hours.
Edun has been directed to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who has been elevated to the position of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy., had previously served as Minister of State in the same Ministry.
Similarly, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as ministerial nominee and minister designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, replacing Dangiwa, according to a statement by
In a statement on a minor cabinet reshuffle signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, on Tuesday evening, added that Dangiwa has been instructed to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry, pending the confirmation and assumption of office by the new nominee.
Akume also directed that all handing-over and taking-over processes be concluded on or before the close of business on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
He explained that the reshuffle was aimed at enhancing coordination and efficiency in governance.
“These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians, through the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.
Akume also stated that the President as acting in exercise of his constitutional powers in effecting the changes, in line with Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
