Strike looms over ASUU zonal chairman’s kidnap

Impending strike is looming at federal and State Universities over the alleged kidnap of Benin Zonal Coordinator of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU),

Report says the varsity don, who is a lecturer in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, was allegedly whisked away at about 9.PM on Saturday when armed men ambushed him while he was driving into his residence at Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of the State.

The hoodlums were said to have drove him away to unknown destination inside his ash colour Toyota High landa marked ABJ 180 JQ, while his neighbours and family wailed helplessly.

The zone comprises, University of Benin (UNIBEN), Benin City; Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma; Adekunle Ajasin University (AAU), Akungba-Akoko and Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECT), Okitipupa.

Others are Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka; Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE), Effurun; University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, Delta State; University of Science and Technology (DSUST), Ozoro, and Dennis Osadebe University (DOU), Asaba in Delta State.

TheNewspad reports that the University Management has been briefed by ASUU members who set to hold an emergency Congress to discuss the incident and take resolutions soon.
