St. Joseph’s chosen church of God unveils Apostle Ogbu as new leader

Authorities of St. Joseph’s chosen church of God international have formally unveiled Senior Apostle Samson Ogbu as the new spiritual of the Pentecostal church.

Ogbu, was decorated on Sunday at the headquarters of the church in Ogiamien street, by Sokponba Road in Benin City, Edo State where a staff of office was presented to the forth generational leader.

The Cleric who had served in various capacity in the church before hitting through a spotlight, became leader of 76-year-old Pentecostal church after the death of immediate past leader of the church, Senior Apostle Wilfred Omoregie in February 2023.

He succeeded the former leader of the church, Apostle Hayford Ikponmwosa Alile — pioneer Director-General of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) who transited to higher glory on September 4, 2018.

A host of Clergymen, church leaders from other denominations attended the consecration service of St. Joseph’s chosen church of God, founded by late Apostle Joseph Ikechukwu Anyanwu.

Most Senior Apostle David Unuefe Ikhuiwu, the spiritual leader of Christ’s chosen church of God international, expressed confident that the parent church, founded in sound doctrinal values, has made impact and left trace for others over the years.

Addressing members and leaders of St. Joseph’s chosen church of God international, Senior Apostle David Ikhuiwu, charged the new leader of the church, Senior Apostle Ogbu, to preserve the legacy that the late founder of the church, Apostle Joseph Ikechukwu Anyanwu left behind.

Senior Apostle Ikhuiwu also prayed God to imbue him with divine wisdom and strength to be able to succeed in his new assignment and more exploits.

Earlier, Apostle Jacobson, delivered the homily on leadership, supported by relevant Bible references, including 1 Samuel Chapter 22 verse 1, and Judges 11: 3, enjoined believers in Christ to work in accordance with the will of God.

Churches that have no life from above (heaven), it’s not the church of Christ, according to the Cleric, noting that leadership is a burden that could either attracts people to them or abhors people from them.

Apostle Jacobson said when a leader refuse to accept the responsibilities that are attached to the positions, and focus on mondaine things, such leaders are bound to crash.

He also revealed that when a leader is focused, he will not be tossed by tempest irrespective of temptations that will abound, especially in this unprecedented times.

In a remark after his installation, the spiritual leader of St. Joseph’s chosen church of God international, Apostle Samson Ogbu, sued for the support of members of the church for the advancement of God’s kingdom on earth

He also prayed for the over all wellbeing of the worshippers at the ceremony, which witnessed special sings and drama presentation.

The revelation behind St. Joseph’s chosen church of God ‘box of Covenant’, representing the Biblical ark of God, was the cynosure of all eyes during the installation.

The box contains a staff of authority that was used by late founder of the church, was thereafter presented to Senior Apostle Ogbu, along with a copy of the Holy Bible by Apostle Jacobson, who reawakened the curiosity and faiths of worshippers in the church.

The Chairperson of Christian Association of Nigeria, Edo State Chapter, Evangelist (Mrs) Oghosa Agbonifo also delivered a goodwill message with a propelling song, serenading worship and dance.
